Getting Certified as a Private Trainer is good but not good enough, since you will be dealing with nutrition with clients every minute while they are under your care. If nutrition is not applied, you as the trainer will end up without business and no income.

Fitness workers held about 235,000 jobs in 2006. Almost all personal trainers and group exercise instructors worked in physical fitness facilities, health clubs, and fitness centers, mainly in the amusement and recreation industry or in civic and social organizations. About 8 percent of fitness workers were self-employed; many of these were personal trainers, while others were group fitness instructors working on a contract basis with fitness centers. Many fitness jobs are part time, and many workers hold multiple jobs, teaching or doing personal training at several different fitness centers and at clients’ homes but very few have the knowledge in nutrition and food application.

Dietitians and nutritionists advise individuals on improving and maintaining their health, like fitness workers do. Also like fitness workers, many recreation workers lead groups in physical activities. As a certified personal trainer you will benefit from this certification course by being one of the few with experiennce and knowledge to help other personal trainers with nearly no knowledge about nutrition and human performance.

The 3 weeks nutrition Certificaiton course can be taken either One-on-One, home study, or in class academy course. Upon completion of this course, a Nutrition Tech should:
Have an understanding of protein, carbohydrate and fat and how these nutrients are essential to a balanced and healthy life style.

• Understand vitamins and minerals

• Understand portion control and to be able to guide clients on the basics of nutrition.

• Understand and implement food diary to help enhance guidance and service.

• Understand food label

• Understand meal timing for better performance and fat loss without muscle loss.

• Fat testing and measurements

• Guide clients to make proper food choices for better results.

Steps to complete this course:
1- Nutrition Tech certification course is a home study course/Online study course/One-on-One course/Academy 3 weeks course
2- Students are given 90 days to complete this course and submit the written exam by e-mail
3- Food handlers permit certification must be obtained prior to 90 days.
4- 20 hours clinic workshop must be complete prior to oral exam by PROPTA examiner.

All student must obtain the Food Handlers Certification to obtain any PROPTA certification.
Food Safety is everyone's business. It's important as Private Trainer and a Nutrition Tech or Consultant or a Nutrition Specialist CNS* to inform your clients in food safety and sicknesses that are caused by mishandling food.Certification in food safety simply means that you will be required to have a basic knowledge as to the causes of food born illness and its prevention, pass an approved examination, and possess a valid certificate in food safety.
